Strolling along in a daydream, the wild grasses lining the road gently brush against your hand. Their soft caress urges you further along the path...

 

You come across a long grove of trees and a stream of water. Shade, at last! And a half-hidden bridge!

 

This stream is called the Barbanne. Often dry, sometimes turbulent, this stream crosses the old road and marks out the boundaries of the four awe-inspiring appellations of Pomerol, Saint-Emilion, Lalande de Pomerol and Montagne Saint-Emilion.

 

The scent of wine gradually draws you out of your reverie. Your stroll leads you back to those few houses. One looks more unassuming than the others, yet it was here just over a century ago...
